Recently, I had a friend ask me about activated charcoal. She had heard a lot of buzz about it but wasn’t really sure what all the hype was about. So, I thought why not do a little post on it for anyone out there unfamiliar or needing a refresher. Activated charcoal is pure carbon made from wood, peat, debris, coconut husks or other carbon sources. It carries a negative charge, so it attracts heavy metals and other toxins in your body. It’s tiny pores and immense surface area make it extremely absorbent to get all those nasty particles out of your system.
Activated charcoal not only detoxes your body but when in different forms, it also whitens teeth, aids in digestion, and removes impurities from the skin. You can even make activated charcoal lemonade. So, if you’re looking to remove some toxins from your life, activated charcoal might be for you. However, like anything else you put in your body, it can have side effects. So do your research to make sure it’s right for you.
Have you tried any activated charcoal products? If yes, did they work well for you?
